昭和初期から中期にかけて人々を魅了した銘仙着物。20世紀前半にヨーロッパに生まれたモダンアート運動、アールデコ、バウハウス、キュビスム、オプアートなどからインスピレーションを得た、大胆な色彩、幾何学模様、モダンな意匠の銘仙を現代の視点から読み解くビジュアルブック『銘仙-着物革命』を初出版いたします。 本書は、アンティーク着物として再評価が進む銘仙を、ファッション、テキスタイル、グラフィックデザイン、生活文化の交差点から紹介する一冊です。銘仙は、平織りの絣による絹織物として日常着に用いられながら、時代の変化とともに華やかな色彩や大胆な図案を獲得し、近代日本の女性たちの装いを彩りました。We are pleased to announce the first publication of *Meisen−The Kimono Revolution*, a visual book about Meisen with modern design inspired by the modern art movement-that emerged in Europe during the first half of the 20th century, such as Art Deco, the Bauhaus, Cubism, abstract painting etc.This book introduces Meisen-which was very popular among women for everyday kimono from early to mid Showa period (1925 to early 1960s) and is currently undergoing reappraisal as an antique kimono. Meisen is plain-woven kasuri silk fabric, it evolved over time to incorporate vibrant colors and bold patterns, enriching the wardrobes of women in modern Japan.The book includes selected 65 modern design Meisen in full color from the collection which Watanabe Haruko has collected for 20 years, including its history and techniques etc. B5 size with 87pages with a hard cover. All Japanese descriptions have been translated in English.
